| DESCRIPTION |

| Performance counters for Linux are a new kernel-based subsystem |
| that provide a framework for all things performance analysis. It |
| covers hardware level (CPU/PMU, Performance Monitoring Unit) features |
| and software features (software counters, tracepoints) as well. |
