| <h3 class="section">9.4 Debugging <code>gprof</code></h3> |

| <p>If <code>gprof</code> was compiled with debugging enabled, |
| the ‘<samp>-d</samp>’ option triggers debugging output |
| (to stdout) which can be helpful in understanding its operation. |
| The debugging number specified is interpreted as a sum of the following |
| options: |
